Dorothy Draper (1889-1969) was a pioneering American interior designer known for her bold use of color and ornate, classical elements. She popularized the "Modern Baroque" style, transforming spaces with her signature flair, and became one of the most influential decorators of the 20th century. She founded Dorothy Draper & Company in 1925 and the company continues to create innovating designs under its current president. Draper elevated interior design into a recognized profession, and her influence endures to this day. Notably, Draper remains the sole interior designer to have a major solo museum retrospective in 2006 which attracted over 1 million visitors.
