Item Description
A 19th century oil on canvas painting by English artist Vicat Cole. The painting is wonderfully depicts an English landscape with nature in all her glory. The Blue sky with well painted clouds is above a marvelously depicted and bountiful landscape with hills, a small creek or river, trees with green leaves and several cows depicted standing near the river bed in the center of the painting.
Signed and dated 1876 to the lower left.
Presented in a carved and gilt finished frame.

Frame: 40 1/4"H x 38"W
Condition: There is wear to the painting, some stains and wear to sections. The canvas has craquelure which itself is not a problem but the canvas has slack to it and should be tightened on it's stretcher to preserve the paint finish and canvas from further wear. There is also wear and broken sections of the gilt finished frame which can be seen in the lot images. Some restoration is warranted and necessary but if done properly the painting will present nicely in your living space.
