Item Description
An immense antique painting produced in 1866 of a bacchanal. Basically a scene of drunken revelry. Figures are seen having the time of their lives, nude or draped with cloths, playing instruments, dancing about with fauns, and even riding donkey. Signed A. Bourgoin 1866 to the bottom right. Held by a massive embellished gilt frame. Back of frame is signed Bourgoin 1947 as well as lined with French newspaper.
Dimensions: 76” W x 61” H x 4” D (frame), 62” W x 48” H (sight)
Condition: thin exterior border is missing pieces in several areas, coming out of frame a bit and the border of painting is rubbed where meets frame/ needs to be reinforced better, three patches to back of canvas but do not seem to interfere with painting
