Item Description
A distinctive pair of hand-thrown studio art pottery vessels featuring earthy glazes and organic surface treatments.
The first vessel is a rounded form vase with a narrow neck, finished in layered tan and brown glazes with darker drip accents. The body displays subtle horizontal throwing lines and a naturalistic speckled glaze variation. Interior is glazed in a rich mottled brown tone. A paper label remains affixed to the underside (partially obscured and not fully legible).
The second piece is a sculptural, spherical form vase with three irregularly shaped mouth openings at the top. The exterior is finished in warm terracotta clay with carved and incised linear decoration radiating across the body. Areas of applied and flowing glaze in muted green and taupe tones create a striking contrast against the raw clay surface. The form features expressive texture, dimensional carving, and organic glaze drips consistent with contemporary studio pottery aesthetics.
Condition
Overall good condition. The sculptural vessel shows surface cracking and glaze irregularities consistent with firing and artistic intent; no major structural damage observed. The brown glazed vase shows typical light surface wear to the base. No visible repairs noted.
