Item Description
A wonderful group of two Chinese export porcelain teapots with covers, spouts and handles.
The first teapot potted with a ovoid body and decorated in famille verte and famille rose enamels. Decorated with wonderfully expressive figural imagery set in architectural landscapes with gilt scrolled borders.
The second teapot in pear form is also decorated with classical figural imagery within an architectural landscape. With adults and children standing and sitting in front of a pagoda wall with tree seen around. The figural reserves are enclosed with wonderful gilt foliate scrolling borders alternating with landscape imagery within quatrefoil shaped reserves.

Provenance: Purchased at Christie's Auction House as lot # 54 on June 18, 1996 in the American Furniture and Decorative Arts Sale.
Condition: There is heavy wear to the gilt border of one lid with other areas of painted finish loss with much of the gilt finish flaked off. The teapots show wear commensurate with age but are structurally in good form and present well as is and could certainly be restored is so desired.
