Contemporary Artist Trey Friedman is best known as an American realist painter creating works so hyper realistic one may not be able to distinguish a painting from a photograph. Known for his works often depicting the vastness of the American country, Friedman's work has been described as having a "sense of alienation arises not from the vastness of this country but from his being caught between the swelling of society and the ebbing of nature."
This work however is unlike his paintings and is a work truly of contemporary art. A miniature tv screen which can be tuned has been mounted behind a picture frame allowing the small screen to be presented. At time of inspection the work was able to be turned on but was fuzzy as it was not tuned properly.
The work is fascinating and one a Trey Friedman collector will be excited to get their hands on as it is not one like the majority of his larger ouevre.
Signed, titled and dated on the reverse, "VANITY" 1/3 by Trey Friedman 1992 / Cornwall Bridge, CT.
Original cost $3,800.
Condition: The work was able to be turned on however the small Citizen tv was not tuned to see if an image was presented or the static was the work. The physical condition of the work was good and the imaginative work is presentable.
