"Alarm, launched by Joseph Weld in 1821, was one of the first great racing cutters. In 1851 Alarm and Arrow, also built by Joseph Weld, competed with fourteen other yachts for the Hundred Guineas (America's) Cup off the Isle of Wight, Arrow ran aground and Alarm turned to rescue her."
