Sophie Strouvé (French, b. 1922) "La Marchande De Fleurs" oil painting on canvas depicting a young lady in a white wide-brimmed had with an orange floral trim, white blouse, red polka dot skirt and black apron seated next to an aqua blue market stand with a white scalloped valance over a lush display of potted flowers in pink, orange, yellow, and blue. The scene is flanked by two trees providing shade and complementing the green foliage of the plants. Signed and dated '64 lower right. Also signed, titled, and dated on canvas verso.
Displayed with a linen liner and gilt fillet in a beveled and banded gilt frame.

Sophie Strouvé is a French artist known for painting. She studied at the School of Applied Arts in Paris and exhibited locally throughout 1950's-1960's including at the exhibitions of naive painters, 1952. Strouvé's work is included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
