Item Description

A fabulous group of dining chairs with stately Victorian Chippendale appeal, well crafted in warm-toned medium brown mahogany including one armchair and seven side chairs. The chairs feature elegant oxbow form top rails with carved ears and flourished shell motif centers heralding openwork lyre splats with gorgeous scrolled folaite and acorn themes. Seats are upholstered in classic red and detailed with nailhead trims, leading into figural carved lion head knees, cabriole legs, and paw feet.

Dimensions:
(1) Armchair: 24" W x 22" D x 41 3/4" H, 16 1/2" seat height
(7) Side chairs: 20" W x 20" D x 39 1/4" H, 16 3/4" seat height

Condition

The chairs sit low; they had casters which are no longer with the chairs. Some with repairs to the frames, including one with repaired top rail and ear, additionally loose joinery to the top rails where they slot into the side supports. Wear commensurate with age and use but overall a very handsome set.
