Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
These fabulously cast, parcel gilt pewter ornaments are from the artists "Patriotic Ornaments" series, each is titled 'Eagle with Liberty Bell'. All four ornaments come with their Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - Patriotic Ornaments / Eagle with Liberty Bell, hallmark number of casting - including 105, 106, 107, 108, issue price $35., total castings limited to 1000, date of casting 2004, appraised value $59.50, and date of appraisal 18-May-05.
The collection of four Patriotic Ornaments are reflective of the pride Americans have in their country.
Each of the parcel gilt pewter, openwork decorated medallions are fitted with a red, white and blue ribbon which is tied off to hang as a commemorative ornament. The ornament is oval in form, with cast ribbon at the bottom and an Eagle in profile to one side and stars to the opposite side which are moulded in high relief and parcel gilt finished. The Liberty bell with its signature crack is to the middle with space around displaying the awe inspiring skill and craftsmanship of the artist.
Each is engraved signed and dated 2004, together with it's individual edition number.
