Sander Gibson (America [NC], 20th Century) oil on wood depicting a lush grassy edge in the foreground, with deep greens and hues of orange and brown, with a lake in the midground reflecting the green background canopy and the purple-hued overcast clouds above. The background consists of two forests flanking the lake, with a small opening between them revealing another forest edge further back. Signed lower right, and mounted in a simple gently beveled gilt-hued frame decorated with black and white splatter.
The back of the painting is accompanied by an additional piece from Gibson; a pastel on paper study of a small pond enclosed by surrounding trees. The background is contrasted in bright yellow fields with light blue mountains further behind. Signed lower left, and mounted with a hand-cut neutral purple mat. Secured to the back of the oil painting in a clear plastic binder sleeve.
Condition: Both pieces display well. Very light scattered surface scratches.
