Item Description
Sam Vokey is an oil painter who specializes in landscapes and still lives, successful for more than 25 years, elected member of "The Guild of Boston Artists", has had many one-man and group showings at different galleries, the recipient of many prestigious awards including the John Singleton Copley Award. His paintings have been included in many books and magazines including covers. His paintings can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.
This oil on canvas depicting the remnants of a dinner for two, with two nearly empty wine glasses, an empty wine bottle, two coral napkins placed on the table after the meal. The white covered table with a reflective silver pitcher and a cloth lined basket with the uneaten bread. A pink flowering hibiscus in the corner is presented in a blue porcelain planter. There is one mahogany Chippendale chair with it's back to the viewer and possibly a second hidden in the darkness of the floral and gilt folding screen.
The painting is presented in a lavish custom gilt frame with carved scrolling corner motifs.
Signed upper right.
