Item Description

Sacha Moldovan began his studies in Paris at the Academie Chaumiere prior to immigrating to the United States.
Moldovan exhibited his work widely and had success. Moldovan's post-impressionist style paintings earned him the recipient of various medals, juried awards and other prizes throughout his career.
Marla Berg, an art critic, once wrote about Moldavan, "Had van Gogh painted Matisse's pictures while dreaming of Chagall, the result would have been the works of Sacha Moldovan...".

The current painting depicts a fabulous still life with a table in a room with cheerful yellow painted walls.
The table has contents upon it including a vase with bouquet of flowers, amongst numerous vegetables and serving wares.
Signed and dated 1963 on verso.
Mounted in a carved wood frame, with gilt finished interior trim.

Condition: Some craquelure to the canvas, notable in the upper right hand quadrant as well as throughout. The thickly painted canvas is stable but craquelure should be noted. Despite wear commensurate with age and display the painting presents exquisitely. See lot images as they are considered part of the condition report.
