Item Description
Sacha Moldovan began his studies in Paris at the Academie Chaumiere prior to immigrating to the United States.
Moldovan exhibited his work widely and had success. Moldovan's post-impressionist style paintings earned him the recipient of various medals, juried awards and other prizes throughout his career.
Marla Berg, an art critic, once wrote about Moldavan, "Had van Gogh painted Matisse's pictures while dreaming of Chagall, the result would have been the works of Sacha Moldovan...".
The current painting painted in the post-impressionist manner depicts a rural village scene with architectural structures amongst birch trees with numerous figures bundled up in jackets and hats seen traversing throughout the town.
Signed 'Moldovan' to lower right, additionally signed, dated '63 and inscribed Paris on verso to canvas.
Presented in a nicely carved and gilt finished frame with filet.
Condition: Good overall condition with some slight discoloration to the filet around the painting. There is slight craquelure and wear to the heavily impastoed canvas but overall in good form and presents exceptionally well overall.
