This wonderful mid century modern oil on board painting by Ronald Jay Stein is titled "Mysterious Bird". The painting depicts an ostrich like bird in the center of an abstracted and geometric, polychrome painted background. The painting has an assortment of labels on the reverse giving it good provenance.
The painting was signed and dated to the lower right quadrant, "R. Stein 57"
One label stating "'Mysterious Bird' By Ronald J. Stein / This painting was donated from the 'MUSEUM PURCHASE FUND COLLECTION.' This collection was established in 1953 by Gloria Vanderbilt to encourage contemporary artists through the purchase of their work for public collections."
The painting is presented with a thin natural finished wood frame.
