Item Description
Robert Petersen was born in Iowa in 1945. As an artist, Petersen became interested in architectural drafting which developed into his passion for painting, drawing and printmaking.
Petersen spent time working as an assistant printer at Gemini G.E.L. where he worked on printed editions for well established artists including: Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Rauschenberg.
By the 1970's, Petersen began creating journal drawings which were inspired by highlights from his many sketchbooks with intrinsic drawings of future work, photographs and postcards amongst other notable details that inspired these works.
The current work incorporates a great deal of material including written and printed notes together with a black circle on the right side and a blue rectangle on the left half.
The work has the words "Study # 8" to the lower left, "October 24th 1997 Sketch" to the lower center and is signed and dated 1995 to the lower right in pencil.
Presented against a background, within a black finished frame and glazed.
