American artist Robert Kipniss was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 1, 1931. He has become an award-winning American painter and printmaker with an impressive body of work.
Kipniss is an elected member of the National Academy of Design, New York, and his works can be found in more than 80 museums including The Art Institute of Chicago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Detroit Insitute of Arts along with the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts and more.
The current work is titled "Far House" depicts a landscape with a wrought iron gate in the immediate foreground with a house just behind. Beyond the first house is a rolling well depicted grassy hill with another home in the far off distance. The artists use of color is limited to hues of grey and black, yet the landscape had fabulous depth.
The landscape is devoid of figures but the gate, groomed land and man made structures allude to human interaction with the environment.
Pencil signed out of plate in lower right and numbered 'artists proof 'v / xv' to lower left.
