Item Description
This is a great, vibrant Vasarely serigraph titled Marsan. This would be a great addition to an Op-art collection, or anyone wanting to add bright colors to their space.
The original vintage gallery sticker is still attached verso, which states: Merskey Collection/Graphics At Kenmore - Vasarely: Marsan; Serigraph In Colors; One of and Edition of 250; Hand Signed; $350.
Vasarely was a Hungarian-French artist, who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the Op art movement. Vasarely was born in 1908 in Pécs, Hungary. Internationally recognized as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, his innovations in color and optical illusion have had a strong influence on many modern artists.
The serigraph is in good condition, the colors crisp and vibrant. The glass on the frame has a couple of minor scuffs. The lower left corner of the matt appears to have been exposed to minor soiling, but does not look to have affected the serigraph (see closeup photo).
The serigraph is signed/numbered "Vasarely 247/250" bottom center (see photo above).
