Antonio Lorenzo. Born in Madrid 1922 he studied at the Fine Arts School in Madrid. Began experimenting in abstract art in 1956. After an introductory phase of “tenebrist” re-creation he began another more pictorial phase involving huge masses of color defined by a surrounding space. His work hangs in the Brooklyn Museum among others.
Ruth Kerkovius (1921-2007). Kerkovius was a German-born artist known for her printmaking painting and textile design. She spent her youth in Riga Latvia relocating to Munich Germany to study at the University of Munich. In the late 1940s she moved to New York. Her work is in the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum the Library of Congress the University of Chicago and Wesleyan University among other places.
Helen Siegl (2); (1924-2009) Austrian-born Printmaker Helen Siegl spent most of her life in the U.S. but her aesthetic creed was forged by her experiences in her home city of Vienna during the traumatic years of Nazi Annexation World War II and the post-war Soviet occupation. Her work is included in various collections nationwide among them the National Gallery and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
