Item Description
Peter Max (German-American, B. 1937) acrylic cn canvas, depicting the portrait of an officer, wearing a brimmed hat with jacket and pendants to his left breast pocket and what appears to be sound muffling headphones around his neck. The portrait bust is presented against an abstract polychromatic ground with long brushstrokes and patches of color.
Signed and dated 1985 on the right hand side of the canvas at the midway point; additionally signed and dated 1985 on verso to canvas with the copyright insignia.
Presented custom framed with black liner and natural finished frame.

About the artist:
Peter Max is an American-German artist based in New York known for his use of vibrant color throughout patriotic and astronomical themes. He studied at the Art Students League and School of Visual Arts. With a career in art spanning over six decades, Max has created work for book covers, posters, magazines, and much more. He has collaborated with Yellow Pages, U.S. General Services, General Electric, Continental Airlines, and Norwegian Cruise Lines, as well as contributing to various charitable causes throughout the years.
