Item Description
Three pairs of leather cowboy boots designed by Claudio Janni (Italian-American, 1940-2021). The first pair of Panhandle Slim comes in black, displaying a fishnet texture across the toe with white and gray-purple embroidered leaves along the shins. The second pair of Panhandle Slim comes in chocolate brown, displaying a fishnet texture across the toe with a dark brown shin embroidered in light brown, red, and green with gilt star motifs. Lucchse comes in smooth soft black with a quilted band around the top of the shin, overlaid with a strap adorned with starburst medallions. The Lucchse boots are protected by red fabric Justin drawstring dust covers.

Artist Insights:
Claudio Janni Claudio Janni is from Rome, Italy, where he spent most of his life. He worked at the Parsons School of Design for the fashion industry, which led to a job in Nashville in the 1970s where Janni worked with Lucchese Boots and Wrangler Boots. In 1981 he moved to Arlington, Texas, to work with Justin Boots. While working for Lucchese, Janni met actors such as John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Mickey Mantle, and Dale Robertson.
After retiring from boot design and fashion, Janni pursued oil painting. He has studied at Conte Verde School of Art and attended the Nuova Italia Art Institute. His paintings are described as being reflective of the true color of Italy. While he has extensively traveled throughout Italy, his paintings focus on Venice, Tuscany, and the Amalfi Coast, especially the canals of Venice. Janni has had exhibitions in Rome, Venice, and Florence, including galleries in the United States.
