A wonderful pair of miniature Victorian portrait paintings on celluloid, both featuring seated women, well dressed with striking white highlights accentuating their jewelry and lace. One painting displays a lady in a mauve dress with multi-stranded pearl necklace, wearing an intricate white lace bonnet adorned with pink flowers; signed indistinctly lower right. The other displays a lady in a red shawl with large necklace, earrings, and tiara. Both mounted behind glass in a brass border, on an oxblood red velvet ground mounted to a peachy beige and gilt frame with fanciful flourishes at the corners.
Condition: Both pieces display well with light surface scratches to glass, tarnishing of brass, light wear to velvet field, hairline cracks in the gilt frame, and minor frame losses, notably at the bottom right corner of the bonnet lady's frame.
