Item Description

A masterfully rendered pair of paintings on canvas depicting vegetables in realistic detail and vibrant color. The first depicts a yellow gourd with vertical green stripes and lush green leaves and vines reaching upward with a ingle yellow flower. The second, after Philippe-Victoire Lévêque de Vilmorin (French, 1746-1804), showcases a head of cabbage with gorgeous warm orange undertones to the finely detailed leaves. Both vegetables are depicted against mottled orange-red and pale celadon green grounds with decorative borders around the perimeters. Each signed lower right.

Displayed in beveled rustic black finished frames with gilt stippled inner borders. Both topped with picture lights.

Condition

One with a chip and minor loss to painted finish in upper left quadrant, but overall in very good condition with no additional signs of wear. Frames are all high end professionally done at the highest level. They look like it came out of a showroom despite the small flake loss, they are probably have never been removed from the wall since they were installed 20 years ago. The home served as a second home for 20 years. There were no children, no pets, UV-protected windows, and a strict no-shoes policy.
