Item Description
A wonderful pair of Chinese export famille rose enamelled porcelain teabowls and saucers, Yongzheng period. Each in conical form, the central cavettos decorated with a lovey diapered pattern on light blue ground with three yellow fans around the interior rim. The walls, which are slightly everted, display three reserves, also in fan form, painted with three species of flowering trees including plum blossoms, chrysanthemum and magnolia.
The teabowls of conforming shape and decoration are undecorated to the interior with the exception of a single flower.
Both teabowls and one saucer with Christie's label affixed underneath and both teabowls with lablels alluding to being from the Kien-lung / Qianlong period although Christie's Auction House attributed them to Qianlong's predecessor being made during the Yongzheng period.

Provenance: Purchased at Christie's Auction House on April 16, 1994 for $2,070. in the "Property from the Estate of Mary Viscountess Rothermere" sale.
Condition: With minor rim fritting to some of the rims and some surface losses to the enamelled decoration commensurate with age, this pair of teabowls and saucers display marvelously.
