Item Description
These are a pair of vintage Mid-Century Modern (MCM) "Atomic" table lamps, most likely manufactured in the 1950s or 1960s. They feature a distinct sculptural base, made of chalkware, and a two-tiered fiberglass shade with decorative lacing.
The design is highly indicative of the Mid-Century Modern "Atomic" or "Space Age" aesthetic popular during the post-WWII era, characterized by geometric shapes and unique materials like fiberglass.
Similar designs have been associated with manufacturers such as Continental Art Co. or other makers of the era.
The two-tiered (sometimes called "double-decker" or "birthday cake") fiberglass shades were a signature of this era, providing a soft, ambient glow. They are finished with decorative lacing around the edges.
