J. Steendrukkerij de Jong & Co., active 1911–1994, was a Dutch printer with an important role in mid-century modern design during the time Pieter Brattinga served as design director. Collaborators included Bruno Munari Wim Crouwel and the Stedelijk Museum. This poster was designed by Otto Treumann (1919 – 2001) a German graphic designer who played an important role in Dutch post-war design. Otto Treumann was born in Bavaria into a Jewish-liberal family. In 1935 he came to the Netherlands as an emigrant. He received his education at the Nieuwe Kunstschool in Amsterdam which worked according to the Bauhaus principles. During the occupation Otto Treumann went into hiding and became involved in the forgery of identity cards and distribution vouchers. After the war, his posters for the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht and Rotterdam became widely known. He also made designs for the Algemene Kunstzijde Unie (AKU) and was awarded the H.N. Werkman Prize in 1948. Treumann also worked for the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Dutch National Ballet. He designed logos for the Anne Frank House, the Dutch Gasunie, and many other companies and institutions.
