Item Description
This wonderful oil on canvas painting, attributed to Opal M. Tucker, depicts a well dressed young girl wearing a purple toned dress with red shoes and a wonderful hair adornment seen seated on a wooden chair with rush seat holding a quartered watermelon and three pomegranates. There is a wood floor below and an open sky with a wonderful blazing sun seen high in the sky of the upper left quadrant.
The painting can be attributed to Opal M. Tucker, whom often signs her works on the reverse to the canvas stretcher. Unfortunately / fortunately the work is well framed and the stretcher is currently concealed with framing paper and the work was not inspected outside of frame at time of inspection. Therefore, the attribution cannot be confirmed but does bear striking resemblance other works confirmed to be by the hand of Opal M. Tucker including another confirmed work by Tucker in this sale.
The painting is well framed with a tan matt and set in a wonderfully carved and gilt decorated frame.
