14k gold pocket watch. This gorgeous antique 14K gold Hampden hunter case mechanical pocket watch is a presentation piece to the Governor of North Dakota, Eli C.D. Shortridge, who served in office for one term from 1893 to 1895. This beautiful pocketwatch is a hunter style, and features a white enamel dial with delicate black roman numerals and a sub second hand, and red five minute markers.
The watch case itself is decorated on both sides with rose, yellow and white golds. The front cover side has a center cartouche, engraved with an old English style "S" and surrounded with foliate and floral work, made up of the multi color golds. The reverse side of the watch features a magnificent golden elk head, which is also surrounded by flower and foliate patterning, offset with a chased swirl design.
Inside, the watch is engraved with the following:
"Presented as a token of esteem to E.C.D. Shootridge, Governor, by officers and employees of the state of North Dakota, Bismarck, ND, December 25, 1894"
Accompanying the pocketwatch is a vintage presentation gift box, and a brass pocketwatch display stand.
