A handsome New York side chair attributed to Duncan Phyfe, showcasing excellent Federal elegance in rich red-brown finished wood with a gently curved top rail finely carved with two spiraled cornucopias joined at the tails with a ribbon. The rounded ears are finely reeded, leading down a curved X-motif splat with an octagonal floral medallion at the center. The seat is nicely caned and surrounded with reeded borders, creating excellent texture throughout. Raised on gorgeous foliate carved klismos legs with paw front feet.
