Nathaniel Currier (American [NY], 1813-1888), head of Currier & Ives (active 1835-1907) "Castle Garden, New York. From the Battery" hand-colored lithograph depicting the impressive rounded building with a tiered hip roof. A procession of well-dressed figures walk along a dirt path flanked by trees. Fine text below the image reads "Lith. & Pub. by N. Currier, entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1848 by N. Currier, in the Clerk's office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York; 152 Nassau St. Cor. of Spruce N.Y." with the title in decorative block letters below. Displayed behind glass in a brown frame with a black stippled interior trim.
Condition: Displays well with minor paper toning and light discoloration. Light wear to frame.
