Mordechai Ardon (Poland / Israel, 1896 - 1992) limited edition silkscreen print, "Moon and Rocks".
Born Max Bronstein, the artist changed his name to Mordecai Ardon. Born in what was then Austria - Hungary, now Poland in 1896, the artist immigrated to Jerusalem.
In 1936, the artist was granted British Mandatory Palestinian citizenship, after which he changed his name to Mordecai Ardon.
Ardon is one of the main figures in regional approach to Israeli art. Ardon participated in the Venice Biennale of 1968. He worked in various media including glass and printmaking.
The current work is an abstracted and Expressionistic work with polychrome colors that resembles color field paintings with more realism. The work resembles a moon overhead with stars in the sky and polychrome hued rocks below.
Pencil signed out of plate in the lower right corner and pencil numbered '46 / 180'.
Presented matted and within a silver finished wood frame and glazed.

Condition: Print is in good condition and only a small nic and loss of silver finish to the wood frame. Overall the work is fantastic and presents well.
