Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The work comes with a copy of of its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - Patriotic Ornaments / Eagle, Twin Towers, hallmark number of casting No. 610, issue price $30., total castings limited to 750, date of casting 2002, appraised value $51.00, and date of appraisal 14-Oct-02.
The current work was created to commemorate America's strength following the tragic terroristic attack on September 11, 2001 when an airplane struck NYC's monumental Word Trade towers.
The parcel gilt pewter, openwork decorated medallion is fitted with a red, white and blue ribbon which is tied off to hang as a commemorative ornament. The ornament is oval in form with a band with foliate wreath over the upper portion along with stars and a ribbon all cast raised in relief. Within the openwork center are the two World Trade towers that had been struck together with an applied gilt finished eagle soaring in front of the towers with its wings majestically stretched out and talons outstretched.
Engraved signed and dated 2002, together with the edition number '610/750'.

Condition: Good overall, gentle wear to the gilt finish but presents handsomely.
