Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series as: 'California Coastal Collection' & 'Tiger Shark', hallmark number of casting: No. 12, issue price $150., total castings limited to: S.E., date of casting 2003, appraised value $255. and date of appraisal 06-Nov-03.
The current work depicts a fabulously cast tiger shark with its tell tale markings and well delineated features seen swimming atop the sea floor with a variety of textural rocks and coral.
The 'Tiger Shark' is marvelously depicted mid swim atop a brass mounted wooden base with a plaque denoting: "CALIFORNIA COASTAL COLLECTION".
