Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title, hallmark number of casting, issue price, total castings limited to, date of casting, appraised value and date of appraisal.
The current work depicts two fabulously cast pewter eagles engaged in a battle with their wings spread wide and their talons ferociously extended. 'The Battle' takes place on a marvelously cast tree stump which allows the artist to cast the eagles atop as if engaged in the battle up in the air while in mid flight. There is a plaque affixed to the stand denoting the title 'The BATTLE', the artist Michael Ricker and the number within the series, '75/500'.
