Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectibilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact a true and genuine signature of legendary baseball player and New York Yankee Yogi Berra.
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series -BASEBALL SIGNATURE SERIES #4 / "YOGI BERRA", hallmark number of casting No. 364, issue price $550., total castings limited to 500, date of casting 1997, appraised value $935., and date of appraisal 1997.
The current work depicts world renowned baseball player and notable New York Yankee catcher, Yogi Berra with his catcher pads on and his helmet in his right hand with his catching glove raised above to catch a pop fly ball. There is a plaque to his feet with the hand written signature, which itself is mounted on a brass mounted base which is mounted with a plaque denoting"THE LEGEND LIVES / "YOGI BERRA", the artists name and series number '364/500'.
