Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact that of legendary NFL and football player "Walter Payton".
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - FOOTBALL SIGNATURE SERIES / "WALTER PAYTON", hallmark number of casting No. 207, issue price $575.., total castings limited to 400, date of casting JUNE 1996, appraised value $977.50, and date of appraisal JUNE, 1996.
The current work depicts world renowned football player and NFL star running back Walter Payton standing with a younger player in a coaching type conversation. There is a plaque to their base with the signed plate. Stands on a brass mounted base with a plaque denoting "THE LEGEND LIVES / "WALTER PAYTON", the artists name and series number '207/400'.
