Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact that of legendary baseball player Stan Musial.
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - BASEBALL SIGNATURE SERIES, "STAN MUSIAL", hallmark number of casting No. 203, issue price $550., total castings limited to 1,015, date of casting 1994, appraised value $935., and date of appraisal 1994.
The current work depicts Hall of Fame baseball player Stan Musial, whom had a nickname of "Stan The Man" and was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1969. The work depicts the legendary hitter in a pose as if he had just swung the bat and hit a long ball as he leads off the home base with his right leg and the bat over his right shoulder, with his head raised admiring his hit. The signed plaque is at the players feet.
The sculpture is mounted on a brass mounted base with a plaque to the base reading: "THE LEGEND LIVES / "STAN MUSIAL", the artists name and series number '203/1015'.
