Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact that of legendary golfer Sam Snead.
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - THE LEGEND LIVES, GOLF - "SAM SNEAD", hallmark number of casting No. 171, issue price $500., total castings limited to 1000, date of casting 1993, appraised value $850., and date of appraisal 1993.
The current work depicts legendary professional golfer whom was one of the top players in the world for the better part of 4 decades. Sam Snead is depicted in a brimmed top hat assisting a younger player whom is depicted as having just swung and there seems to be a coaching moment between the legendary player and a younger novice. There is a plaque with Sam Snead's signature at their feet, which itself is mounted on a brass mounted base with a plaque affixed to it stating: "THE LEGEND LIVES" / "SAM SNEAD" with the artists name to the lower left corner and the edition number '171/1000' to the lower right corner.
