Michael Ricker (Am., 1940-2006) Ltd. Ed. Pewter Sculpture On Base, "Johnny Unitas" #2

Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.

The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signed signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact that of legendary Hall of Fame football player Johnny Unitas.

The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - LEGEND LIVES - FOOTBALL 2, "JOHNNY UNITAS", hallmark number of casting No. 142, issue price $525., total castings limited to 765, date of casting 1994, appraised value $893., and date of appraisal 1994.

The work also comes with an ADDENDUM TO CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, which states "The Michael Ricker sculpture titled "Legend Lives - Johnny Unitas, Football" is under the 1994 copyright license authorized by Unitas Management Corporation, Timonium, Maryland 21093.

The current work depicts Hall of Fame, quarterback Johnny Unitas wearing his uniform with his helmet supported by his right arm leaning into his waste. Unitas is standing along side a younger football player whom is holding his helmet in his right hand and looks up as Unitas appears to be in conversation for a fantastic coaching like motif. As part of the artists Signature Series, Johnny Unitas signed plaque can be seen at the players feet. The base of the sculpture is presented mounted on a brass mounted base with a plaque that states: "THE LEGEND LIVES" / "JOHNNY UNITAS", the artists name and series number '142/765'.
