Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - Baseball Special Signature / Johnny Bench, hallmark number of casting No. 29, issue price $695., total castings limited to 100, date of casting 2004, appraised value $1,181.50, and date of appraisal 25-Feb-05.
The sculpture Hall of Fame baseball catcher Johnny Bench crouched down with his catcher equipment on, including his helmet and catchers mitt which is extended forward. Bench, whom was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, comes with a hand signed baseball with a note 'HOF 89' representing when he was inducted into the Hall of fame.
While there is not a certificate of authenticity that comes with this lot, as part of the artists "Baseball Special Signature" series, it is most likely an authentic signature to the ball.

The sculpture is mounted on a brass mounted base with a plaque which states: "Johnny Bench" with a list of his career highlights and achievements.
Additionally signed and dated by the artist to the back mid section of the sculpture and brass mount.
