Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture made by "Artist/Sculptor Michael Anthony Ricker, known as 'FOOTBALL ORIGINAL SIGNATURE - JOHN ELWAY' is an actual, true, and genuine signature of JOHN ELWAY, and I have examined all contracts pertaining to this matter."
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title (which is part of his Signature Series): John Elway, hallmark number of casting No. 395, issue price $895., total castings limited to 511, date of casting 1999, appraised value $1345., and date of appraisal - 05-Jul-99.
The current work depicts legendary NFL quarterback John Elway standing in his jersey raising the Lombari Trophy over his head, while standing next to a short faux brick wall with a rectangular plaque that highlights top achievements in the legendary quarterbacks career.
The signed plaque can be seen to the base, which itself is mounted on a brass mounted base.
