Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting "the signature of 'HOE NAMATH' on the signature plate of the limited edition sculpture created by Artist/Sculptor-Michael Anthony Ricker known as 'LEGEND LIVES-Football, JOE NAMATH', is an actual, true and genuine signature of Joe Namath...".
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Casting denoting the works title and series - THE LEGEND LIVES, FOOTBALL - "JOE NAMATH", hallmark number of casting No. 229, issue price $500., total castings limited to 765, date of casting 1993, appraised value $850., and date of appraisal 1993.
The current work depicts an affectionate image of the Hall of Fame NFL star helping a youth boy with is stance and throwing motion, as the boy is holding a football with legendary quarterback standing along side and coaching him.
The work being part of the Signature Series has the signed plate at the base. The sculpture is mounted on a brass mounted base with a plaque affixed to it stating: "THE LEGEND LIVES" / "JOE NAMATH", with the artists name to the lower left and the edition to the lower right.
