Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The work does not come with its Certificate of Authenticity as part of the artists 'Signature Series', however works in this series are authentically signed and it is highly likely the signature to the name plate is authentic.
The work does come with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - 1992 WESTERN SIGNATURE SERIES "ROY ROGERS", hallmark number of casting No. 608, issue price $500., total castings limited to 1,000., date of casting 1992, appraised value $850., and date of appraisal 1992.
The current work depicts famous American singer, actor and television star. Rogers is one of the most popular Western television stars of his time.
The actor is depicted with his cowboy hat on with his guitar held across his chest in a near vertical manner with his right hands strumming the instrument and his left hand at the other end. The casting is fantastic with detailed elements of his Western attire including the tassels on his jacket being pronounced and well depicted.
The signed name plaque can be seen under the guitar.
The pewter sculpture is mounted to a brass mounted base.
