Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting "the signature of 'Hank Aaron' on the baseball of the limited edition sculpture created by Michael Anthony Ricker, known as 'BASEBALL SPECIAL SIGNATURE - Hank Aaron' is an actual, true, and genuine signature..."
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - Baseball Speial Signature / Hank Aaron, hallmark number of casting No. 34, issue price $695., total castings limited to 75, date of casting 2003, appraised value $1,181.50, and date of appraisal 03-Jun-03.
The current work depicts legendary baseball player Hank Aaron standing at home plate in ready position with his hands raised holding his bat over his shoulder, awaiting an imminent pitch. There is a basket behind him and a signed baseball set underneath the pewter sculpture.
The sculpture is mounted on a brass mounted base denoting "HAMMERIN HANK AARON" with highlights from his illustrious career.
