Item Description
Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The limited edition sculpture comes together with its Certificate of Authenticity, denoting the signature plate of the Ltd. Ed. sculpture is in fact that of legendary golfer Gary Player.
The work also comes with its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - THE LEGEND LIVES, SIGNATURE SERIES, GOLF, "GARY PLAYER", hallmark number of casting No. 237, issue price $525., total castings limited to 500, date of casting - MAY 1995, appraised value $892.50, and date of appraisal MAY 1995.
The current work depicts world renowned golfer Gary Player kneeling while giving instruction to a young golfer whom is holding a club in the ready position. At their base is the signed plaque, which is mounted on a brass mounted base. A plaque on the base states: "THE LEGEND LIVES / "GARY PLAYER", the artists name and series number '237/500'.
