Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The work comes with a copy of its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - COLLECTOR'S SOCIETY / "MARJORIE", hallmark number of casting No. 20691, issue price $75., total castings limited to S.E., date of casting APR. 1, 1997, appraised value $127.50, and date of appraisal APR. 1, 1997.
The current work has been wonderful cast from pewter to depict a girl, Marjorie, dressed as a clown with conical hat with pom on top and a frilly collar with clown attire and oversized clown shoes. Marjorie is depicted riding a tricycle with a basket where a small cat is resting in side with its paws on the front of the basket and its head raised. The cat also wears clown attire with a frilly collar and conical hat with ball form tipper. The tricycle is cast with on its base.
