Michael Ricker (American, 1940-2006) was an accomplished Colorado based artist with a focus on sculpture. Ricker began creating pewter, collectible sculpture in 1968. Ricker's process involves use of Old English Pewter ingots which are melted down to cast limited edition sculptures and other works of art. By 1991, construction of a new museum, gallery and casting studio had been completed which further enhanced the collectabilty of his limited edition sculptural works of art.
Ricker passed away in 2006, and his brother and sister created the company known as Designs By Ricker where they continue to carry on production of his fabulous work.
The work comes with a copy of of its official Certificate of Title denoting the works title and series - Show Editions / Colorado Wind, hallmark number of casting No. 228, issue price $125., total castings limited to S.E., date of casting 1999, appraised value $212.50, and date of appraisal 13-Oct-00.
The current work depicts a pair of horses running in sync with one and another. The fabulous casting leaves the viewer with an impression of movement as if seeing them racing across the land. The sculpture is mounted on a brass mounted wood base with a plaque stating: "COLORADO WIND" with the artists name.
