Item Description
A marvelous example of Crown Naples Capodimonte, this diamond form hinged box and cover presents fabulously.
Diamond form with gilt finished metallic mounts to the box and lid. The diamond form lid opens to one end which can be seen in the lot images. The box features a fabulously moulded and polychrome finished putti or cherubs with a Satyr, eating fruit, playing musical instruments within a Neoclassical style architectural landscape. The diamond form reserve with gilt finished border and a foliate scrolled band to the lid trim.
The box is decorated with figural reserves to each side. The front depicting numerous figures in vividly painted and moulded draped robes with a male figure seated at a table appearing to feed the fire while a water pitcher rests on the table.
The verso decorated with four winged putti with a two handled jardiniere at the center of the landscape. Decorative gilt finished scroll work to the white finished ground.
Marked underfoot.

Condition: There is some wear to the painted finish and wear around the metallic mounts. Losses to the painted trim around. Foot pads underfoot to protect. Wear is commensurate with age and handling but despite any wear the box presents very well.
