Lucille Sinclair Douglass (American, 1878 - 1935) was an American artist, primarily working in painting and etching. Douglass is known to have traveled and depicted areas throughout Asia, including China and Cambodia.
Notably in 1928, Douglass was mentioned in the New York Evening Post as "one of America's best known painters and etchers".
The current pastel painting depicts a harbor scene with the viewing perspective being on one of the oar boats traveling toward shore, where large buildings in white can be seen. Oar boats, sail boats and a flurry of other activity can be seen throughout the space.
