Item Description
Louis Sahuc (American, 1942-2021) "Memories" photographic collage depicting an elderly man and woman enjoying a conversation at the Napoleon House, New Orleans.
A caption below the series reads "I was having lunch one day at the Napoleon House, as I often do, when Joe came and sat at my table, as he often did. Uncle Joe was 98 then and had been proprietor of the Napoleon House for more than half a century. Suddenly, he popped up from the table like a piece of toast and went to greet a lad who had just entered the cafe. He seated her at the table in a way I've never seen a man tend a lady. Her name, I later learned, was Marjorie. They had known each other since the 1930's, but this unexpected meeting was the first in many years. 'Louis,' I said, 'put down the muffaletta, and get your camera.'"
Pencil signed lower right. Displayed behind glass in a black frame with a geometric floral trim.
Condition: Displays well with minor discoloration, and light wear to frame.
